On Tuesday, a local franchisee is opening Charlotte's fourth Einstein Bros. Bagel, this one in Ballantyne, and the first 100 customers will get free bagels.
The store is located near Ballantyne Commons Parkway and Johnston Road. It will open for business at 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
Phil Rice is the new store's owner. The 25-year-old has plans to expand with up to a dozen more Einstein locations in the Charlotte market. You can read about his Myers Park store, and a bit more about Rice, in a previous blog post here.

Einstein Bros. Bagels new Myers Park store opens
Charlotte's newest Einstein Bros. Bagels location is opening Tuesday, March 27, at 5:30 a.m. in Myers Park Shopping Center.
A new Ballantyne store was recently announced as well. Phil Rice, the 25-year-old franchiser who owns the stores, said he plans to open as many as eight more stores in the Charlotte market.
He's currently looking for locations in the SouthPark area, near Lake Norman, and possibly in Rock Hill. Rice worked for a restaurant company in Columbus, Ohio, before moving to Charlotte last year. He wanted to own his own business, and said he gravitated toward Einstein Bros. because they have more than 700 locations but are fairly new to franchising.
"It's a really cool brand," Rice said. He bought the rights to the Charlotte market last year. The transition from working for a restaurant company to ownership is nerve-wracking, Rice admits. "I've opened new restaurants before, but this has my name on it," he said. "This is my life, so I can't mess it up. That's why I work seven days a week."

Einstein Bros. plans two new bagel stores
Einsten Bros. Bagels will open two new Charlotte stores in late March or early April, according to a real estate broker.
One will be in Myers Park Shopping Center, in the former Wolfman Pizza store there. The 2,500 square-foot store is in the shopping center that's being upgraded with a two-story Harris Teeter at Queens and Providence roads.
The other Einstein will go into a 3,100 square-foot store that was formerly home to Ikos Aegean Grill and Backyard Burger, on Conlan Circle, in Ballantyne.
Bryan Wyker and Malcolm McLean, of The Providence Group, represented Einstein in the transactions. Patrick McCoy of Cushman & Wakefield/Thalhimer, as well as Spencer Brown and Steve Pharr of Collett & Associates, represented the landlords.
